Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Coatings Chemist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently to complete tasks with precision. The role primarily focuses on construction and concrete lab work, including the handling of large quantities of aggregates and the utilization of compressive strength and flexural strength testing equipment. Additionally, expertise in defoamers, rheology modifiers, and dispersants in coatings and construction is highly valuable.

Responsibilities:

1. Construction and Concrete Lab Work: Conduct various lab tests related to construction materials, concrete, and coatings, including the handling of large quantities of aggregates.

2. Strength Testing: Operate and maintain compressive strength and flexural strength testing equipment, ensuring accurate and consistent results.

3. Chemical Formulation: Develop and optimize coatings formulations, including the selection and use of defoamers, rheology modifiers, and dispersants.

4. Quality Control: Monitor and maintain quality control standards, ensuring product consistency and performance.

5. Data Analysis: Analyse and interpret test results, providing insights and recommendations for product improvement and development.

6. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of test data, methodologies, and findings.

7. Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment in the lab.

8. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research and development, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to support product development and improvement.

Requirements:

1. Preferred not essential, Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
2. Proven experience in construction and concrete lab work, including the handling of large quantities of aggregates.
3. Proficiency in operating compressive strength and flexural strength testing equipment.
4. Strong knowledge of coatings chemistry, with experience in formulating and optimizing coatings for construction applications.
5. Familiarity with defoamers, rheology modifiers, and dispersants in coatings and construction.
6. Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
7. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
9. Safety-conscious and quality-focused.
