Production Engineering Manager

With a footprint in over 85 countries worldwide, Accord Healthcare develops, manufactures, and distributes affordable medicines to patients that need them across the world, and we are delighted to be working on this exciting project.
Purpose of Job:
Responsible for the management of the production engineering function, including all associated process and packaging equipment to support the core activities of the Fawdon site.
The post holder will manage the department maintenance function, compile capital improvement requirements, and ensure production processes are adequately supported, focusing on using best business practice to improve efficiency by reducing operating costs and increasing productivity.
Key areas should be to support all quality and EHS related activities for the department
The role has a broad field and diverse range of responsibilities and activities, where the post holder will be involved in both defining and implementing engineering strategy whilst supporting the day to day site operations, including taking a hands on approach wherever necessary to achieve objectives.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Management of production engineering team to support Accord Healthcare’s core business, encompassing management of all maintenance of installed equipment and future capital engineering activities onsite both tablet manufacture and device assembly.
- Definition and implementation of engineering strategy to support the overall business plan
- Ensuring that site has the most suitable working environment for its employees and their activities.
This will be achieved through
- Implementation of the adherence to engineering procedures and the provision of appropriate Quality documentation to support all engineering activities.
- Planning, maintenance and, where required, validation of all production equipment and utility services for manufacturing, device assembly and packaging operations.
- Ensuring adherence to all maintenance activities and that annual reviews are concluded satisfactorily
- Responding appropriately to emergencies and urgent issues as they arise
- Selection, procurement, and control of contract engineering support
- Control of agreed work by staff or contractors, ensuring satisfactory completion and following up on any deficiencies
- Ensuring the equipment meet health and safety requirements from an Engineering perspective including full participation in H & S management activities
- Management of systems and processes providing for security of systems and products
- Support the Engineering Director in planning for future development in line with strategic business objectives
- Support cross functional activities in the preparation and support of the site development with new processes maintenance recording and implementation
- Manage and lead change to ensure minimum disruption to core business activities
- Using performance management techniques to monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed service levels and to lead on improvement
- Lead by example using the company strategies, Challenge , Commit , Connect.
- Provide Support to the team using coaching and mentoring skills to achieve the best from the team at all levels.
Relevant Skills
- Line Management experience of leading an engineering team
- Strong understanding of relevant cGMP and HSE and compliance legislation
- Experience of working on High-speed production machinery
- Multi-skilled with preferred experience in a Pharmaceutical / Food environment.
- Good fault-finding skills
- Exposure to Continuous Improvement and Lean Management techniques.
- A proactive mind-set with the ability to work effectively within a team and have an understanding how the job role can have a huge impact on the larger business.
- Understanding of DSEAR/ATEX
- A strong team player with a flexible and open communication style with the ability to direct and train others.
- Effectively communicate to all functions and provide technical support leadership.
- Familiarity with PC based systems
- Knowledge of safe working practices e.g., Lock & Tag Out (LOTO), Risk Assessment & Method Statements (RAMS) etc.
- Methodical approach for problem solving/technical execution.
