Jackson Hogg is pleased to be working with an established Engineering Consultancy based in Newcastle upon Tyne who, due to continued growth, have a new vacancy for a Senior Civil Engineer.

The successful candidate will have an unparalleled opportunity to work alongside a team of dedicated engineers and technicians on a variety of projects spanning the retail, residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Design of infrastructure for residential, commercial, education, and industrial sectors including underground drainage systems and roads to adoptable standards.

  • Liaise and communicate clearly in a professional manner to colleagues, clients, contractors and other designers to offer advice and guidance on matters relating to your work. Be able to work in close collaboration with team members.

  • Review designs and drawings completed by team members or other parties for compliance with design standards, best practice guidance, contractual obligations and client expectations, ensuring that quality and consistency of technical output is maintained.

  • Ensure work is compliant with Health and Safety legislation such as the CDM Regulations and other applicable codes. 

  • Liaison with statutory bodies such as Water Companies, Environmental Agency and County Roads Departments etc.

  • Provide technical input on multi discipline projects large and small, providing support, mentoring and guidance to developing team members.

  • Be proficient in the use of relevant technical analysis, design software and AutoCAD.

  • Attend design meetings, site meetings and carryout site inspections.

  • Work on projects with consideration to the agreed project budgetary limits and timescales.

  • Support business development through client liaison, networking and preparation of bids and proposals to sustain and grow a strong client base.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s level qualification in a Civil Engineering discipline.

  • Hold a professional qualification and membership of appropriate professional bodies at Chartered or Incorporated status i.e. Institution of Civil Engineers or the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation, or

  • Working towards Chartered Status of an appropriate professional institution e.g. MICE, MCIHT

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years post-graduation experience

  • Technically competent in the field of civil engineering and drainage design

  • Good experience in the investigation, assessment, and design of a range of civil engineering projects of the nature found in the UK

  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in technical written English

  • Track record of developing and maintaining relationships with clients and project stakeholders

  • Ability to take initiative and manage your own workload and meet deadlines

  • Flexible and enthusiastic approach to working within a team structure

  • Full clean driving license
