The Role
The Academic Sales Executive will own the North America – West Coast territory and drive adoption of advanced technologies within leading research institutions and laboratories. The role requires strong scientific expertise, exceptional sales skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key thought leaders in oncology, genomics, and molecular research.
The successful candidate will work closely with researchers and decision-makers to understand their scientific and business needs and deliver solutions that accelerate their work in cancer genomics and translational research.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute a territory business plan to meet or exceed sales goals.

Build and maintain strategic account plans for academic and research institutions.

Provide accurate sales forecasts and reports using CRM tools (Salesforce.com experience is a plus).

Manage complex sales cycles, including capital equipment and project-based opportunities.

Deliver compelling presentations and demonstrations showcasing scientific and commercial value.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of competitive landscape and market trends.
Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of sales or business development experience in life science research.

B.S. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Cell Biology or a related field (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred).

Strong knowledge of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and molecular/genomic technologies.

Established relationships with key opinion leaders in translational research or clinical biomarkers.

Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing large, complex accounts.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and closing skills.

Ability to travel up to 60%; home office-based.
Compensation & Benefits
-
Base salary: $150,000 – $165,000, depending on experience.

Uncapped commission structure with $70,000 OTE.
