Backshift Supervisor – Structural Steel Manufacturing
Location: North East England
Salary: £47,694 per annum (with 1 in 4 Saturdays up to c.£49,481)

Jackson Hogg are supporting a well-established structural steel manufacturing business in the North East with the recruitment of an experienced Backshift Supervisor.

This role supports the Works Manager and works closely with other Supervisors to ensure the factory operates safely, efficiently and to plan.

Working Hours

• Monday to Thursday: 2:30pm – 11:00pm

• Friday: 2:30pm – 8:30pm

• 1 in 4 Saturdays: 7:30am – 12:30pm (must be able to work)

Pay

• £22.93 per hour (including backshift allowance)

• £47,694 per annum based on 40 hours

• Saturday rate: £28.66 per hour

The Role

• Support the Works Manager in the day-to-day running of the factory and achievement of production targets

• Coordinate labour, materials and workflow to maintain efficiency across the shop floor

• Lead, motivate and allocate work to the backshift team, providing cover where required

• Monitor and report production performance, quality issues, defects and staffing concerns

• Take responsibility for Health & Safety on shift, ensuring PPE compliance and safe working practices

• Carry out one-to-ones, appraisals and identify training and development needs

• Ensure company policies, procedures and housekeeping standards are followed

About You

• Supervisory or team leader experience within manufacturing / heavy engineering

• Strong shop floor and people management skills

• Organised, reliable and able to prioritise workload

• Good communication and problem-solving ability

• Willing to work 1 in 4 Saturdays

IOSH and First Aid at Work are desirable but not essential (training available).
