Principal Civil Engineer – Infrastructure & Development Projects

We are working with a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy delivering civil infrastructure solutions across the UK. The business supports a broad range of development, infrastructure and regeneration projects, working closely with developers, public sector bodies and contractors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil Engineer who enjoys owning projects, engaging with clients, and developing technically within a collaborative consultancy environment.

The Role

You will be responsible for the design and delivery of civil engineering packages across multiple projects, from early feasibility through to detailed design and construction support. The role offers genuine variety and the opportunity to work alongside structural, geotechnical, transport and environmental specialists.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design of civil infrastructure including:

  • Highways and access roads

  • Drainage (foul, surface water, SuDS)

  • Earthworks, levels and site-wide infrastructure

• Preparation of technical drawings, reports and calculations

• Coordination with internal disciplines and external stakeholders

• Supporting planning submissions and technical approvals (e.g. S278 / S38)

• Managing your own workload across several live projects

• Providing technical input into bids and proposals where required

• Acting as a professional, client-facing representative of the consultancy

About You

This role would suit a Senior to Principal Civil Engineer with a strong grounding in UK civil infrastructure design and a practical, delivery-focused mindset.

Your Background:

• A degree in Civil Engineering or similar

• Experience working within a UK civil or infrastructure consultancy

• Broad technical capability rather than a narrow specialism

• Confidence communicating with clients, local authorities and contractors

• An understanding of constructability, cost and programme impacts

• A proactive approach to problem-solving and project ownership
