    Top Recruitment Trends in 2025

With the current workforce being one of the most competitive markets you need to somehow stay ahead of the curve. Now’s the time to stop overthinking and start acting with purpose. At Jackson Hogg, we remain at the forefront of innovation, helping clients and candidates stay ahead of the curve. In this blog, we tackle the latest recruitment trends and look into how they're reshaping hiring strategies.

    AI-Powered Recruitment

Artificial Intelligence is now an everyday tool and not just a futuristic concept. AI helps recruiters save time and enhance decision making with tools such as automated CV screening. A recent survey from Korn Ferry found that 67% of survey respondents see increased AI usage as a top talent trend for 2025, although 40% of talent specialists surveyed worry that too much AI in recruitment could make the process impersonal, causing them to miss out on top candidates.

A 2024 study by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) found that AI-powered recruitment systems can reduce time-to-hire by an average of 40%. This is a significant increase from the 30% reported in the previous year's IBM study, indicating the rapid advancement of AI in the HR field.

Yet, if AI isn't used properly it can undermine the hiring process, but when used strategically it can add real value to the experience. That's why Jackson Hogg combine cutting edge tools with human insight to ensure that automation never compromises on candidate experience.

    Skills-based Hiring Taking Over Degrees

There's been a big shift in employers prioritising skills over qualifications when hiring, especially in STEM, digital and tech-driven sectors. Companies tat hire based on skills rather than credentials see dramatic improvements in their workforce. According to ADP, 90% report fewer hiring mistakes and 94% find that skills-based hires out perform those hired based on degrees; a big change for employers and people seeking a new job opportunity.

By prioritising what candidates can do over traditional markers like degrees or career paths, companies can tap into a wider range and more diverse talent pool. Modern candidates might have gained experience through non-traditional routes; such as online courses, self-directed learning or be returning to the workforce after a career break . This approach expands the potential pool of candidates, but also brings in fresh perspectives and diverse experiences, leading to a more innovative and dynamic workforce.

Prioritising Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

(DEI) isn’t a trend but a must for organisations, you must demonstrate commitment to DEI in recruitment and retention. This includes inclusive job descriptions, unbiased interview panels and transparent progression paths. A 2024 McKinsey study found that companies in the top quartile for cultural diversity on their executive team were 36% more likely to face above- average profitability than companies in the fourth quartile.

It’s about building a workplace where everyone feels like they belong, it’s about creating a space where everyone feels valued, respected and supported, no matter their background, identity or experience. That’s why we integrate DEI into every stage of our recruitment process, helping clients build teams that reflect and celebrate diversity.

By embracing these recruitment trends, you can transform your recruitment process and attract the best talent by staying ahead of the curve. Whatever you’re next recruitment move is, we’re here to guide you with market leading insights and personalised support.
