Location: Ferryhill, County Durham
Pay Rate: £14.65 per hour
Hours of Work:
- Day Shift (Training / Initial Period): 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
- Post-Training: Two-shift rotation, Monday to Friday
- Early Shift: 6:00am – 2:30pm
- Late Shift: 2:30pm – 11:00pm
Our client is a well-established manufacturing and sheet metal fabrication company based in Ferryhill. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a capable and experienced Assembly Operative to join their production team.
Role Overview
The Assembly Operative will be responsible for assembling mechanical and fabricated components using hand and power tools, working from engineering drawings and assembly instructions to meet quality and production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble components and sub-assemblies to specification
- Use hand and power tools including drills, rivet guns, spanners, torque tools, and similar equipment
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly instructions
- Carry out quality checks during and after assembly
- Identify and report faults, missing parts, or build issues
- Follow safe working practices and company procedures
- Meet production targets while maintaining quality standards
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
- Previous experience in a mechanical or manufacturing assembly role
- Confident use of hand and power tools (drills, rivet guns, spanners, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work a rotating two-shift pattern following training
- Experience assembling fabricated or sheet metal components
- Previous experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Competitive hourly rate of £14.65 per hour
