Jackson Hogg Procurement division are pleased to be exclusively partnered with a long-standing client in Newcastle on the appointment of a Strategic Buyer to join their Procurement and Supply Chain team on a full time and permanent basis.
As a Strategic Buyer, you’ll take ownership of key procurement projects and play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation's supply chain. This role offers the opportunity to deliver tangible cost savings, strengthen supplier partnerships, and contribute directly to our ambition of becoming Experts in Sustainable Sites.
This position offers hybrid working of 2 days per week at home after completion of 3-month probationary period. Working hours are Monday to Friday between and .

The Role:
- Strategically review indirect spend to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve processes, and maximise value for money.
- Manage procurement projects end-to-end, from supply chain planning through to tendering, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contract implementation.
- Support the Procurement Manager in delivering broader business goals, including cost saving initiatives, sustainability targets, and supplier-led innovation.
- Manage Capex procurement, including specification reviews, supplier negotiations, and delivery scheduling within the capex plan.
- Deliver savings through structured negotiations and value-based supplier relationships.
- Develop strong, collaborative supplier relationships to improve performance, mitigate risks, and ensure delivery of business objectives.
- Negotiate robust contracts and SLA agreements, ensuring favourable terms and sustainable partnerships.
- Drive continuous improvement across procurement processes, governance, and reporting.
- Provide guidance to end users on procurement processes, preferred suppliers, and invoice query resolution.
The Person/Specification:
- Proven experience in procurement, ideally in a strategic or category buyer role.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving cost savings and value creation.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
- Proactive, solutions-focused, and able to spot opportunities for improvement.
- Confident with data analysis and reporting to support decision-making.
- CIPS qualified (or working towards) desirable but not essential.
