Location: Ferryhill, County Durham
Pay Rate: £14.00 – £16.80 per hour
Hours of Work:
- Day Shift (Training / Initial Period): 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
- Post-Training: Two-shift rotation, Monday to Friday
- Early Shift: 6:00am – 2:30pm
- Late Shift: 2:30pm – 11:00pm
Our client is a well-established sheet metal fabrication company based in Ferryhill, supplying welded and fabricated components to a range of industrial sectors. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced MIG Welder to join their production team.
Role Overview
The MIG Welder will be responsible for welding mild steel components to a high standard, working from engineering drawings and production schedules within a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out MIG welding on fabricated sheet metal and structural components
- Work from engineering drawings and weld symbols
- Set up welding equipment and select appropriate consumables
- Produce high-quality welds to required specifications and tolerances
- Carry out visual inspections and basic quality checks
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workstation
- Meet production targets while maintaining quality standards
- Report defects, rework requirements, or equipment issues
- Proven MIG welding experience within a fabrication or manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and weld symbols
- Experience welding mild steel (thin to medium gauge)
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to work a rotating two-shift pattern after training
- Experience working in a high-volume or production welding environment
- Previous experience welding sheet metal components
- Competitive hourly rate of £14.00 – £16.80 per hour
