Jackson Hogg Procurement division are pleased to be partnering with a construction business based in South Tyneside on the appointment of a Commercial Pricing Specialist to join their Procurement team.
This is a full-time and permanent role with working hours of Monday to Friday 8-4.30 but flexibility to a 7.30 start could be accommodated if preferred.
Benefits include hybrid working of days in office and 2 days working from home after probationary period, private healthcare, 25 days holiday + bank holidays + holiday purchase scheme up to 5 extra days, pension matched up to 10%.
Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
The Commercial Pricing Specialist supports commercial and procurement activities by developing and maintaining pricing and costing models for products, services, and support, ensuring alignment with commercial strategy and new product/service development.
The role works closely with Sales, Finance, and operational teams to align purchase prices and customer or sales pricing with market conditions, margin targets, and strategic objectives, supporting sustainable growth and high?quality service delivery.
The Role:
Bill of Material Cost Analysis
- Work closely with Engineering, Procurement and Finance teams to review Bill of Material Costs to ensure. inputs are accurate and aligned to agreed costing assumptions.
- Identify and propose opportunities for cost savings.
- Support the development of pricing frameworks that reflect market conditions and business priorities.
- Manage data extraction/conversion into Quote Management System (monitoring usage and removal of obsolete products).
Pricing & Commercial Model Development
- Maintain and develop pricing governance across the quotation process, ensuring clear controls over margin floors, mark-up bands for products and services.
- Identifying and analysing cost drivers, price elasticity, margin impacts, and discount structures.
- Support the development of pricing frameworks that reflect market conditions and business priorities.
Bid, Tender & Supplier Commercial Support
- Support procurement tendering and bid evaluation processes to ensure value for money.
- Analyse supplier proposals and pricing structures.
- Develop commercial negotiation strategies alongside Procurement and stakeholders.
- Contribute to supplier negotiations to improve cost efficiency and commercial outcomes.
Commercial & Pricing Strategy
- Work with the Sales team to establish market?aligned pricing strategies that support revenue growth and market positioning.
- Take ownership of the commercial pricing rules within the quote management tool, ensuring the pricing framework remains current and structured.
- Balance commercial competitiveness with profitability and cost recovery.
- Align procurement pricing insights with wider commercial and sales strategies.
Data Analysis & Performance Reporting
- Monitor utilisation, activity levels, pricing performance, and key commercial metrics.
- Analyse sales trends, margins, and cost variances to identify risks and opportunities.
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across pricing and commercial analyses.
Process Improvement & Governance
- Identify opportunities to improve pricing processes, tools, and governance frameworks.
- Drive efficiency, consistency, and transparency in pricing decisions.
- Support the integration of pricing models and commercial processes across the business.
The Person/Requirements:
- Proven experience in commercial contract management, tendering, and negotiations would be desirable.
- Strong financial modelling, pricing analysis, and data interpretation skills.
- Strong communication skills at all levels with a confident telephone manner.
- Understanding of supply chain dynamics, market pricing, and cost drivers.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, BI tools, or similar).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
