Metal Dresser

£15.25 per hour | 2 Shift Rotation | Temp to Perm Opportunity

Jackson Hogg are currently recruiting for an experienced Metal Dresser to join a growing manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous metal finishing experience who takes pride in producing high-quality work and is looking for a long-term opportunity with a clear route to permanent employment.

Following a day-one induction on dayshift, you will move directly onto a 2-shift rotation, earning £15.25 per hour.

The Role

Working within the finishing department, you will be responsible for dressing and finishing welded components to a high standard before they progress to painting or final assembly.

Key duties include:

• Dressing and finishing welds on a variety of fabricated components
• Using electric grinders, pneumatic grinders and pad sanding tools
• Preparing metal surfaces for painting and finishing processes
• Achieving high-quality cosmetic finishes on components where required
• Working from job instructions and engineering drawings
• Inspecting completed work to ensure quality standards are met
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working area

Requirements

Essential

• Minimum 12 months' experience within a metal dressing, fabrication finishing or engineering environment
• Experience using handheld grinding and sanding equipment
• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality workmanship
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures

Desirable

• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Background within welding, fabrication or heavy manufacturing environments
• Experience working to cosmetic finishing standards

Hours of Work

Initial Induction

Dayshift

• Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
• Friday: 8:00am - 12:30pm

Two Shift Rotation (20% Shift Premium)

Week 1 - Early Shift

• Monday to Thursday: 6:00am - 2:30pm
• Friday: 6:00am - 12:30pm

Week 2 - Back Shift

• Monday to Thursday: 2:30pm - 11:00pm
• Friday: 12:30pm - 7:00pm

Average 38.5 hours per week.

  • Time and a Half Monday to Saturday
  • Double Time on Sundays
