Jackson Hogg are supporting a North East manufacturing business with the appointment of a Powder Coating Plant Leader. This is a hands-on role to take full ownership of a busy coating operation, improving output, tightening quality, and bringing structure to how the plant runs day to day.

This isn’t a paper-based management role. You’ll be on the shop floor, driving standards, solving problems, and getting the best out of the team.

What you’ll be responsible for

Operations: Running daily coating activity (prep, coating, curing, finishing, inspection), delivering production to plan, coordinating with fabrication and assembly, and removing bottlenecks.
Quality: Owning finish quality (thickness, adhesion, colour), reducing defects, driving right-first-time performance, and maintaining traceability.
HSE: Ensuring safe handling of powders and chemicals, PPE compliance, and maintaining ventilation, filtration, and waste systems.
People: Leading, organising and developing operators and technicians, setting standards, and building accountability on shift.
Equipment: Keeping lines, booths, ovens and conveyors running, coordinating maintenance, and reducing downtime.
Improvement: Driving efficiency, reducing waste and rework, and implementing practical continuous improvement.
Stock: Managing powders, chemicals and consumables, working with procurement, and controlling usage and cost.

• Strong safety performance

What we’re looking for

• Experience leading or supervising a powder coating or finishing operation
• Strong understanding of coating processes, equipment and surface prep
• Hands-on leadership style, comfortable on the shop floor
• Able to manage people, prioritise work and hold standards
• Strong problem-solving and organisational ability
• Manufacturing or fabrication experience is beneficial
• Exposure to lean or CI is an advantage
