Quality Operative
Pay Rate: £15.25 per hour (2-shift rate – advertised)
Initial Training Rate: £12.71 per hour (dayshift)
Contract: Temp to Perm
Shifts: 2 Shift Rotation (with flexibility for future 3 shifts)
Hours: 38.5 hours per week
Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Quality Gate Operative to join a busy manufacturing environment. This role is key to ensuring that all products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards before progressing through the production process.
You will be responsible for carrying out inspections on welding-based components at designated quality checkpoints across the shopfloor.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections at designated quality gates
- Inspect welding-based components to ensure compliance with specifications
- Verify products against engineering drawings and quality standards
- Identify, record, and report defects or non-conformances
- Work closely with production teams to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence
- Complete inspection records accurately using basic computer systems
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality procedures
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to follow inspection procedures and work instructions
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team
- Basic computer literacy for recording inspection data
- Ability to work independently and make objective quality decisions
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or quality inspection role
- Experience inspecting welding or fabrication work
- Familiarity with inspection tools such as gauges, fixtures, or measuring equipment
- Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
Pay & Benefits
Production Staff:
- £15.25 per hour (2-shift rate including shift premium)
- Overtime paid at:
- 1.5x (Monday–Saturday)
- 2.0x (Sunday)
- 23 days holiday plus bank holidays (paid hourly)

Working Hours
Dayshift (Induction):
- Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00
- Friday: 08:00 – 12:30
2 Shift Rotation (20% shift premium):
Early Shift:
- Monday – Thursday: 06:00 – 14:30
- Friday: 06:00 – 12:30
Back Shift:
- Monday – Thursday: 14:30 – 23:00
- Friday: 12:30 – 19:00
Potential 3 Shift Pattern (25% shift premium):
- Includes night shifts on a rotating basis
