We are recruiting for a Development Scientist to join a fast-growing organisation specialising in the contract development and manufacture of lateral flow tests. The company supports clients seeking to develop or manufacture lateral flow assays and also provides a range of reagents and materials used across the diagnostics industry.
Role of Development Scientist
A suitably qualified Development Scientist is required, ideally with experience in diagnostic test development. As the organisation continues to expand, the Scientist will play an important part in supporting this growth through product and service development, as well as technical support across multiple teams.
The Scientist will be responsible for planning and completing laboratory work for projects within the Technical team. Duties include designing, troubleshooting, executing and writing up experiments using approved formats to ensure accurate Design History File completion. The role also requires flexibility to work across QC, Compliance and Manufacturing when needed.

Performs QC of tests and components

Supports the manufacture of test components and buffers
Role Requirements

Design, conduct, write-up and review experiments in line with company Quality procedures

Perform batch and component QC as required

Conduct incoming QC of materials and components
Roles & Responsibilities

Conduct R&D activities aligned with Quality and Health & Safety standards
-
Write and update technical documentation, including manufacturing and QC SOPs and records

Deliver technical presentations to the R&D Manager, senior leadership and customers

Provide technical support to customers

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the laboratory

Carry out general laboratory duties, including cleaning, calibration and equipment maintenance

Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, colleagues and customers
Technical Skills
-
Practical laboratory experience
-
Experience in product development
-
Proven capability in lateral flow test development
-
Competence in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Desired Background

Degree in a relevant technical discipline (e.g., Biotechnology, Chemistry, Microbiology)

Experience in the diagnostics industry

Lateral flow and/or ELISA development experience

Experience in customer support is advantageous

Laboratory experience is essential
