Facilities & Energy Engineer

As we continue our exciting growth journey, we are pleased to announce the introduction of a new role within our Production Engineering structure for a Facilities & Energy Engineer based at our Production Facility in Billingham.
The Facilities & Energy Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of site infrastructure and utilities on an Upper Tier COMAH production facility. This includes buildings, bunds, pipe rack, plumbing, compressed air, site services, and external areas. The role ensures that the site remains safe, compliant, and fit for purpose, supporting operational continuity and future growth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include:
•
Complying with the site’s safe working practices and relevant procedures.
•
Leading, managing and co-ordinating statutory inspections and maintaining emergency systems (e.g. fire water system, extinguishers, safety showers).
•
Leading, managing and co-ordinating utilities maintenance and improvement (boilers, chiller, cooling tower water, …) including water treatment, legionella legislation, PSSR.
•
Leading, managing and co-ordinating maintenance and improvement on HVAC and AHU systems, plumbing, and drainage networks.
•
Leading, managing and co-ordinating maintenance and minor works for building fabric and site infrastructure (roads, bunds, fencing, signage).
•
Overseeing grounds maintenance, including gardening and external cleaning contractors.
•
Planning and delivering small refurbishment projects for offices, labs, and welfare areas.
•
Liaising with external contractors and suppliers to deliver maintenance and compliance works, including collection of RAMS, preparation and issuing of work permits.
•
Creating and being responsible for actively managing and tracking Facilities & Energy budget.
•
Managing energy contracts and suppliers, monitoring site energy performance, and leading optimisation initiatives to reduce energy consumption and cost in line with company sustainability goals.
•
Creating, managing, and maintaining accurate records for both internal and external audits and inspections.
Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge/Experience:
•
Experience managing facilities and utilities within a high-hazard or COMAH-regulated environment.
•
Good understanding of statutory and regulatory compliance for industrial facilities.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
•
Familiarity with CMMS software preferred.
•
Competent in contractor management and site coordination.
•
Basic IT skills (Excel, maintenance systems, email).
