Job Title: Laboratory Technician
The Organisation
This organisation is a cleantech company that has developed a proprietary decarbonisation technology that converts woody and agricultural biomass into sustainable sugars and biocarbons.
The sugars are fermented to produce advanced bioethanol and further processed into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The biocarbons are used either for carbon sequestration or as a renewable substitute for coke within the steel industry to support low-carbon steel production.
The company currently operates a pre-commercial demonstration plant and is progressing toward commercial-scale production. The first commercial facility will produce approximately 20KTPY of total output, including biocarbon and second-generation ethanol.
The organisation is also engaged in a strategic partnership with major industry stakeholders to develop large-scale bioethanol production from renewable feedstocks.
The Role
To provide laboratory technical support, analysis, and administrative assistance.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:

Conducting analytical testing to support daily laboratory operations.

Following and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for laboratory activities.

Managing the inventory of chemicals, consumables, and samples, including COSHH compliance checks for new materials.

Performing QA intake for feedstocks and R&D samples.

Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and safety within the laboratory environment.

Contributing to the evaluation of potential equipment changes or upgrades.

Performing calibration of laboratory instruments at defined intervals.
There will be opportunities to contribute to analytical aspects of ongoing and future research projects.
Experience, Personal Attributes & Qualifications

Experience with HPLC or similar analytical techniques.

Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
