Jackson Hogg Procurement division are delighted to be exclusively partnering with an engineering business in Gateshead on the appointment of a Procurement Assistant to join their team on a full-time and permanent basis. Salary on offer is circa £25,500-27,500 per annum depending on experience.
This role is on site 5 days a week with hours of Monday to Thursday 7.30-4.30 and Fridays 7.30-12.30.

The Procurement Assistant will support the Procurement department in executing purchasing activities, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring the smooth operation of procurement processes. This role will focus on achieving cost efficiencies, maintaining accurate stock levels, and ensuring compliance with company standards and values.
The Role:
- Assist in sourcing materials, components, and services that meet the required quality and specification standards.
- Support in obtaining and evaluating supplier quotations to ensure best value for money.
- Maintain and update supplier databases and assist in ongoing supplier performance monitoring.
- Raise and process purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the stores and production teams to maintain accurate stock levels and prevent shortages.
- Participate in monthly stock spot checks and annual stock takes, inputting accurate data into the ERP system.
- Liaise with internal departments such as Sales, Engineering, Production, and Quality to align purchasing requirements.
- Assist in maintaining documentation for material certifications and compliance records.
- Help with contract renewals and supplier negotiations under supervision.
- Support implementation and utilisation of the ERP system within the procurement function.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects within procurement and supply chain.
- Complete job costing tasks and feedback to relevant departments.
- Assist in maintaining and communicating customer schedules.
The Person:
- Some prior experience in a purchasing, supply chain, or procurement administrative role would be desirable but not essential. Also open to those who are interested and eager for a career in Procurement
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
