Welder - Dayshift

Location: Brompton-on-Swale, North Yorkshire
Pay: £16.85 per hour
Overtime: £25.28 per hour (x1.5)
Contract: Temp to Perm, transferring to permanent employment in the 13th week

Shift Pattern

• Monday to Friday: 6:00am - 2:30pm
• 40-hour standard working week
• Monday to Friday overtime: Paid at x1.5
• Saturday overtime: 7:30am - 12:30pm, paid at basic rate x1.5

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Welder to join a busy structural steel fabrication environment in Brompton-on-Swale.

The role will involve MAG 135 welding of structural steel plates and sections up to 100mm thick, working within a production environment and ensuring all welds are completed to the required quality standards.

Previous experience working with structural steel is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Structural steel welding of plates and sections up to 100mm thick
• Using MAG 135 welding equipment
• Producing single and multi-run fillet and butt welds in the down-hand position
• Carrying out visual inspections of completed welds
• Using grinders and associated equipment safely, including adherence to HAVS regulations
• Working to production targets and deadlines
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality
• Following safe operating procedures and HSEQ requirements
• Supporting and participating in relevant training activities

What We're Looking For

• Time-served Welder or equivalent qualification
• Experience in MAG 135 manual welding
• Structural steel experience is essential
• Good understanding of welding codes and standards
• Experience using overhead cranes and appropriate slinging techniques
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good problem-solving and communication skills
• Strong understanding of health and safety and safe working practices
• City & Guilds / NVQ in structural steel welding would be advantageous
• Visual weld inspection certification would be advantageous
• Candidates will be required to complete a welding skill test
